Many PNS still Use Private Vehicles to Office

Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo’s instruction that forbids civil servants to use their private vehicles to go to office on every first Friday of the month seems being ignored. Evidently, on this Friday (9/5), many civil servants are still using their private vehicles to office.

If we caught the civil servants, of course we’ll take action against them. That policy must be consistently implemented and escorted by all parties

Based on beritajakarta.com observations at City Hall this morning, many civil servants were coming in with their private vehicles, mostly motorcycles. Ironically, there was not even single officer guarded at the entrance.

This condition is different when the policy was first applied. During January-March period, there were always special officers guarded at the parking lot entrance of government’s offices. Whenever there was civil servant caught using private vehicle, they blocked the person and record their data.

East Jakarta Mayor Drove Away Civil Servants Using Private Vehicles

Responding on this matter, Head of Jakarta Personnel Board (BKD), I Made Karmayoga, admitted did not know there are civil servants using their private vehicles to office today. But, he promised would take action if such a thing proven.

“If we caught the civil servants, of course we’ll take action against them. That policy must be consistently implemented and escorted by all parties,” he stated.

Although there are still civil servants violated the policy, Karmayoga stressed that for official level, they are obedient to it.

“I took the train to get here (City Hall) this morning,” said Karmayoga.

Besides Karmayoga, Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama also took public transport this morning. He arrived at City Hall using taxi.

This policy refers to Governor Instruction No. 105/2013 which issued by Jokowi and effective starting from January 2014. It applies to all civil servants and officials, except the use of ambulance, fire truck, trash truck, and operational car of transportation department.
